Dr Martin Busk

MB BS DOcc Med

Martin trained at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London and qualified in May 1977. After house jobs and a year in an academic Oncology job, he left UK for the developing world, working on a Coral atoll with a brief to develop Rural Primary Care Services in the most appropriate and cost-effective

During his 4 years overseas Martin had realised that his future would be in developing Family Practice back in the UK and he completed his GP training in Bury St Edmunds Hospital and a rural practice in Suffolk.

An opportunity arose to take over a small practice in Woodchurch in Kent and Martin became “The Village Doctor” in October 1984.

The practice was initially run from a disused garage with a part time receptionist and a Nurse/dispenser providing a personalised service to the local villages. Since then the premises and the team have grown considerably as the practice became larger, but it has always maintained the ethos and the values of a personal family doctor service.

In 2017 he and his partner in the practice, Jack Hickey, formed H&B Medical Ltd as a platform from which they could provide Occupational Health Services, specialist driving and aviation medicals and Private GP services. They provide a service that is personal and focusses on providing the best and most suitable care to every patient.

Dr Jack Hickey

MBCHB MRCS DOHNS MRCGP

I grew up in London and went to Liverpool to study medicine qualifying in 2000. I was initially drawn to a surgical career specialising in Ear Nose and Throat. I then realised my future and qualified as a GP in 2006. Since moving to Kent in 2007 I joined Woodchurch Surgery in 2011 and am a trainer for the next generation of GPs.

I became involved with Dungeness Lifeboat around 2011 and am proud to still be their Medical Advisor. It sparked an interest in occupational medicine and while learning to fly at Headcorn I started my Aeromedical Examiner training and have been an AME since 2014. I love seeing the huge variety of different aspects of aviation that goes on both in the air and on the ground and being part of it gives me huge satisfaction.

I’m backed up in the office by a great team of admin staff and equally a superb nursing team who help deliver what is needed to keep people safe.
